Shrek - the musical! - Tuesday, January 03, 2012

The end of last term saw months of hard work and rehearsals finally pay off when Miss Nicholls directed 'Shrek - the musical' at school over two evenings. Featuring memorable performances by Daniel Tofangsazan as Shrek, Tom Critchell as Donkey, Jaz Saunders and Tara Smith as Princess Fiona,  the show took the audience to the land of Far Far Away and introduced some fantastic characters. An air of pantomime kept the audience laughing all the way through the show, with some great comic turns by George Payne and Charlie Starks; Beth Woolard put her ballet training to good use with some beautiful pointe work in her role as Tinkerbell.

We are extremely grateful to Kerry Sewell, a professional production designer,  who volunteered her time and expertise to ensure we had a spectacular set and scenery.

Sports Hall Build - Tuesday, October 11, 2011

Building works have commenced on our new sports hall, starting with the demolition of our swimming pool. Built by parents and local volunteers in the 70's, the pool has been unused for a couple of years due to the expense of refurbishing it. The new sports hall is scheduled for completion in 2012 and will be available to hire to the public out of school hours.

Whilst specialist contractors are working on school site we would urge parents and carers to remind their children about the dangers of playing on building sites. The area will be fenced, and all current H & S regulations will be adhererd to.

Christchurch Food Bank - Wednesday, September 21, 2011
This Year Avon, Stour and Priory Houses will be supporting Christchurch Food Bank.
A Food Bank provides free food to those in crisis and Christchurch Food Bank is appealing to schools in the area to support them. The aim is to involve our children in this Community Project by helping those in need, creating an opportunity for them to become aware of the hardships of others.

A Food Bank survives entirely on donations from local churches, schools and other organisations. On the last Friday of each month we are proposing that students bring a non-perishable item of food into school i.e. tins, packets and dried food would be great. All items must have a good use by date or best before date on them, preferably 6 months.  This will replace the collection of pennies from last year and the students will be rewarded with merits for their House.
