| Food Festival Junior Cook Competition - Wednesday, April 24, 2013Our Food Technology room was fragrant with the delicious aroma of gourmet cooking on Monday when Food Festival President, Mary Reader, celebrity chef and author, Lesley Waters, head chef from The Kings Hotel, Ian Gibbs and Christchurch Rotary president Dr David Rogers came to school to judge our Junior Cook competition.
GCSE catering students from Yr 10 were invited to take part in the annual schools' cookery competition which had as its theme this year 'a celebrator meal for 2 school leavers'. The students had a budget of £10 to prepare and cook their 2-course meal, whilst giving a reason for choice, designing a menu and presenting the costs and method to the judges. Dishes prepared by the students included hake in pancetta, chocolate fondant, lemon and lime meringue pots, chicken with mushroom sauce and chicken brochettes. After a tense afternoon of cooking the students had a long wait whilst the judges deliberated.
Declaring the dishes 'of an execptionally high standard' and some of which the chefs judging would be glad to have on their menus, Mary Reader announced our winner. Tom N is to cook his dish of pan-fried duck with a passion fruit jus and a chocolate pot on Friday 10th May when he goes head to head with the winner from Twynham and Highcliffe. The cook-off is to be held in the marquee behind the Regent Centre from 9.30am which is in situ for the weekend for the Food Festival. |

| Governors Elected - Monday, March 18, 2013The Governors would like to welcome Mr Bruce Hart, Mr Greg Lyons and Ms Ellen Stammas, the three newly elected Parent Governors, to the Governing Body.

Name Number of votes
Mr Bruce Hart 46
Mrs Rebecca Johnson 37*
Mr Greg Lyons 38
Ms Ellen Stammas 37*
Mr Garry Taylor 10
With three vacancies for Parent Governor to be filled, Mr Bruce Hart and Mr Greg Lyons were duly elected with the most votes. Many thanks to each of the candidates who kindly stood for election, and to all parents and carers who voted.
The Governors also wish to thank Mr Michael Lane, who, on expiry of his term as a Parent Governor earlier in the year, kindly agreed to continue to offer the Governing Body the benefit of his many years of experience as an Associate Member, and to congratulate, and thank, Mr Michael Turvey on his reappointment as an Authority Governor for a further term of office, and for continuing as our distinguished Chair of Governors.
